Organization settings

Configure organization-wide settings, members, billing, and defaults for your team.

Accessing organization settings

Requirements:

  • Organization owner or admin role
  • Members cannot access organization settings

To access:

  1. Click organization name in top bar.
  2. Select Organization Settings.
  3. Or go to Settings > Organizations > Manage.

Settings apply to all organization members.

Organization details

Manage basic organization information:

Organization profile:

  • Name (shown in project lists and member invitations)
  • Slug (unique identifier in URLs: ekx.ai/org/your-slug)
  • Logo (appears in top bar and emails)
  • Description (helps members understand org purpose)

To update:

  1. Go to Settings > General.
  2. Edit name, slug, or description.
  3. Upload logo (PNG, JPG, max 2MB, recommended 256×256px).
  4. Click Save Changes.

Organization type:

  • Personal (auto-created for individual users)
  • Team (2-100 members)
  • Enterprise (100+ members, custom features)

Type determines features and pricing.

Organization members

Manage who belongs to your organization:

Owner:

  • Full organization control

Billing Admin:

  • Manage subscription and payment
  • View invoices and usage
  • Add/remove seats
  • Cannot manage members or settings

Member:

  • Create projects within organization
  • Use organization defaults
  • View organization project list
  • Cannot manage organization

Adding organization members

Invite users to join your organization:

  1. Go to Settings > Members.
  2. Click Invite Member.
  3. Enter email address.
  4. Select role (Member, Admin, Billing Admin).
  5. Click Send Invitation.

Invitation process:

  • User receives email invitation
  • Clicks link to accept
  • Joins organization with assigned role
  • Can access organization projects (if added)

Invitation expires after 7 days.

Pending invitations:

  • View in Invitations tab
  • Resend or cancel invitations
  • Shows email, role, date sent

Removing organization members

Remove users from organization:

  1. Go to Settings > Members.
  2. Find member to remove.
  3. Click ... next to name.
  4. Select Remove from Organization.
  5. Confirm removal.

After removal:

  • User loses access to organization
  • Projects they own remain (or transfer ownership)
  • Projects they are member of: membership removed
  • Can be re-invited later

Cannot remove:

  • Organization owner (transfer ownership first)
  • Yourself

Changing member roles

Update role for existing member:

  1. Go to Settings > Members.
  2. Find member in list.
  3. Click ... next to name.
  4. Select Change Role.
  5. Choose new role.
  6. Changes take effect immediately.

Common role changes:

  • Member → Admin (needs management capability)
  • Admin → Member (reducing responsibilities)
  • Member → Billing Admin (handle payments only)

Organization defaults

Set defaults for all organization projects:

Default code book:

  • NEC 2026 (default for US)
  • CEC (Canadian Electrical Code)
  • IEC (International standards)

Default component values:

  • Bus voltage levels
  • Cable insulation types
  • Transformer impedances
  • Motor efficiency classes
  • Protection device types

To set organization defaults:

  1. Go to Settings > Defaults.
  2. Select component type.
  3. Edit default values.
  4. Click Save.

Organization defaults apply:

  • To all new projects created in org
  • When members create components
  • Unless overridden by project or user defaults

Best practices:

  • Set organization defaults to match common project requirements
  • Use NEC values matching your region
  • Document any deviations from code defaults
  • Review and update annually

Project visibility settings

Control default project visibility:

Default visibility for new projects:

  • Private (only members you add)
  • Organization (all org members can view)

Member project creation:

  • Allow all members to create projects (default)
  • Require admin approval
  • Admins only

To configure:

  1. Go to Settings > Projects.
  2. Select default visibility.
  3. Set creation permissions.
  4. Changes apply to new projects.

Existing projects:

  • Not affected by changes
  • Owners control visibility individually

Billing and subscription

Manage organization subscription and payment:

Current subscription:

  • Plan name (Free, Starter, Professional, Team, Enterprise)
  • Seat count and limit
  • Monthly/annual billing
  • Next billing date
  • Current charges

Seat management:

  • Add seats for new members
  • Remove unused seats
  • Prorated billing applies
  • Minimum seats based on plan

To upgrade plan:

  1. Go to Settings > Billing.
  2. Click Change Plan.
  3. Select new plan.
  4. Adjust seat count.
  5. Confirm changes.
  6. Billing updates immediately.

Payment methods:

  • Add credit card
  • Update existing card
  • Set backup payment method
  • Auto-pay enabled by default

Billing history:

  • View past invoices
  • Download PDFs
  • See payment history
  • Track seat changes

Customize appearance for Enterprise organizations:

White labeling:

  • Remove ekx branding
  • Custom support links

To enable:

  • Contact sales for Enterprise plan
  • Provide brand assets
  • Setup included with Enterprise

Single Sign-On (Enterprise)

Configure SSO for Enterprise organizations:

Supported providers:

  • SAML 2.0
  • OAuth 2.0
  • Azure AD
  • Okta
  • Google Workspace

Setup process:

  1. Contact support to enable SSO.
  2. Provide IdP metadata.
  3. Test SSO connection.
  4. Enable for all members.
  5. Enforce SSO (optional).

SSO enforcement:

  • Require SSO for all logins
  • Disable password authentication
  • Automatic provisioning (future)

Activity and audit logs

Track organization activity:

Activity log shows:

  • Member additions and removals
  • Role changes
  • Project creations and deletions
  • Settings modifications
  • Billing changes

Audit log filters:

  • By member
  • By action type
  • By date range
  • By project

Export logs:

  1. Go to Settings > Activity.
  2. Select date range.
  3. Click Export.
  4. Downloads CSV file.

Available in Professional and higher plans.

Security settings

Configure organization security policies:

Password requirements:

  • Minimum length
  • Complexity rules
  • Expiration (future)

Session management:

  • Session timeout
  • Concurrent sessions
  • IP restrictions (Enterprise)

Two-factor authentication:

  • Require 2FA for all members
  • Enforce for admins only
  • Optional for members

To enable 2FA requirement:

  1. Go to Settings > Security.
  2. Toggle Require 2FA.
  3. Grace period: 7 days for members to enable.
  4. Enforced after grace period.

Transferring organization ownership

Change organization owner:

  1. Go to Settings > Members.
  2. Find new owner in member list.
  3. Click ... next to name.
  4. Select Make Owner.
  5. Confirm transfer.

After transfer:

  • New owner has full control
  • You become admin (if you stay)
  • New owner manages billing

When to transfer:

  • Leadership change
  • Consolidating organizations
  • Founder transition

Deleting organization

Permanently remove organization:

  1. Go to Settings > Advanced.
  2. Scroll to Danger Zone.
  3. Click Delete Organization.
  4. Type organization name to confirm.
  5. Click Delete Permanently.

Warning: Deletion is permanent.

Before deleting:

  • Transfer or delete all projects
  • Cancel subscription
  • Download billing history
  • Notify all members
  • Export data

Deletion removes:

  • All projects owned by organization
  • Organization defaults and settings
  • Member access
  • Billing history after 7 years
  • Cannot be undone

Personal organizations:

  • Cannot delete without deleting account
  • Projects transfer to new personal org
