Create a project

Projects organize your diagrams, components, and calculation results.

Start from the projects list

1. On the Projects page, click Create Project, or click + next to Projects in the

sidebar.

1. Enter a Project Name that matches the facility or study you are modeling, and an optional

Description.

1. Under Electrical code, keep NEC 2026 or choose CEC 2024. To copy a template instead, check

From template and select the template.

1. Click Create Project.

Create from a template

Templates are normal projects that an owner has marked for reuse. When you create from a template, ekx copies the template's diagram, component properties, scenarios, project settings, canvas layout, and protection configuration into a new regular project.

The new project is not a template unless you mark it as one later. Generated artifacts, reports, activity history, AI conversations, and collaborators are not copied.

Configure project settings

• New blank projects use the code book you choose under Electrical code: NEC 2026 (default)

or CEC 2024. It cannot be changed later.

• Projects created from templates preserve the template's exact code book and

edition. A template with an unsupported or unresolved profile can be opened, but code-dependent sizing remains blocked.

You own the new project. See Project roles and access for who else can open it.
